Commercial Structure Fire

News Release from: Salem Fire Dept.
COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE FIRE
Posted: August 10th, 2011 1:20 PM

At approximately 7:39 a.m. on August 10, 2011, fire crews from the Salem Fire Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Front Street NE in Salem, Oregon on a report of a fire located in the second floor break room of the United Gospel Mission Annex and Donation Center. The fire was discovered by an employee who was in the process of opening up the building for business. Once the employee discovered the fire he called 9-1-1 and reported the fire.

Firefighters gained access and found a small fire that had been extinguished by the building's fire sprinkler system. The fire, which originated in the second floor break room area, produced sufficient heat to activate one fire sprinkler head located in the room. Firefighters worked through the burned area to determine the fire was out and also provided ventilation in the building, removing smoke and water. The fire sprinkler system operated as designed, controlling the fire and preventing fire spread throughout the building.

Fire damage was limited to the immediate area with light smoke and water damage in other portions of the building. Fire investigation personnel from Salem Fire have conducted an investigation into the cause and origin and determined the fire to be accidental in nature related to mechanical/electrical failure of a floor cooling fan. Fire damage is estimated at $5,000 to the building and contents. The building is valued at approximately $950,000.

No injuries to firefighters or occupants were reported and the business is expected to be back in operation today with minimal disruption. The fire crews were back in service within 1 hour and the incident was closed at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Photo/sound file: http://www.flashalertnewswire.net/images/news/2011-08/1294/46630/Amanda_Yeaney.JPG (Amanda Emma Marie Yeaney)

08/08/11:

At approximately 2:30am, Sunday, Deputy Cody Lane located and arrested Yeaney at a home in the 3400 block of 30th Avenue in Salem. Lane was tipped off to Yeaney's location by an anonymous caller.

She was booked at the Marion County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled substance (Methamphetamine), Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Yeaney is scheduled for court on August 8th at 3:00pm.

The Sheriff's Office commends and thanks the caller who assisted us in locating Yeaney.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Marion County Detectives are seeking assistance from the public in locating a convicted felon, Amanda Emma Marie Yeaney.

Yeaney was driving a 1999 Mercury Cougar when it was stopped for a traffic violation on Lancaster Drive NE, near Rickey Street in Salem. The car stop was made on May 26th at 4:23pm, by Deputy Ron Cereghino.

It was determined that Yeaney was not a licensed driver so she was cited and released at the scene. An impound tow truck was requested for her vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a .22 caliber handgun and 23.3 grams of methamphetamine.

Yeaney is described as a black female, 27, 5-3, 135, short black hair and brown eyes (photo attached). She has no permanent address, but is known to frequent hotels in Salem and Keizer. Detectives have attempted to locate her but have exhausted all leads.

Yeaney has prior felony convictions, including Conspiracy, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Assault and Theft.

Anyone with information on Yeaney's location is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 503.588.5112, or the non-emergency Sheriff's Office Dispatch line at 503.588-5032.
