 (David Hiron Brown)
A 50-year old Woodburn transient was arrested Sunday, hours after deputies suspect he robbed a tavern in Woodburn. The owners of the Monitor Inn, 15255 Woodburn - Monitor Road NE in Woodburn called 911 on Sunday at 2:30pm, reporting the robbery. They said a single bandit came into the business, displayed a handgun, and fled with cash from the tavern and its customers.

The man was described as a white male of medium height, wearing a gray hoodie and bandana over his face. He was armed with a revolver. After taking money from the tavern and several of its customers, he fled the business on foot. The exact amount of money taken is not known at this time.
Witnesses later provided Deputy Pete Marcellais with a possible direction taken by the suspect while he was running from the tavern. Deputies also developed a suspect vehicle seen leaving the scene. It was described as a red Chevrolet Suburban with chrome accessories.
Working with that information deputies searched the area and later followed their leads to Molalla where they were assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Troopers from the Oregon State Police.
At 5:15pm, witnesses from the original crime scene called the Sheriff's Office reporting the suspect vehicle had returned to the area and was parked near a vacant house on Monitor Road.
Deputy Chris Helbling, Sr. Deputy Shawn Bush and his canine Max responded to the area and began a search for the suspect. David Hiron Brown was located near the vehicle and taken into custody. Deputy Bush and "Max" conducted a further search of the area and located evidence that connected Brown to the robbery. Part of his disguise, along with much of the money taken during the robbery was discovered hidden under the porch of the vacant house. The suspect had apparently hidden the cash and items after the robbery; then returned to retrieve them.
Brown was booked at the Marion County Jail on charges of robbery and menacing. He is scheduled for court at 3:00pm, July 5th.
