The Donald Fire Department and Medics from Woodburn Fire and EMS were on the scene, treating the injured party.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 1998 Jeep Wrangler was travelling northbound on Butteville Road when it crossed over the centerline into the oncoming lane and struck a 1998 Toyota Rav 4, that was southbound on Butteville. The speed limit in that area is 45mph.

Neither driver was injured, but the passenger in the Toyota received serious injuries and was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland. He was identified as Lugardo Chavez, 43, of Donald. No information is available on his medical condition.

The driver of the Toyota was identified at Hector Chavez, 35 of Donald.

The driver of the Jeep, Joshua White, 28, of Newberg, was arrested and booked at the Marion County Jail on charges of Reckless Driving, two counts of Reckless Endangerment, Assault 2 and Assault 4. He is being held without bail and is due in court on 08/01/11 at 3:00pm.

The Marion County CRASH team closed Butteville Road for approximately 5 hours as it reconstructed the accident for court purposes.
