News Release from: Salem Police Dept.
Posted: July 24th, 2011 6:27 PM
At 11:43 this morning Salem Police received a call from 456 Oregon Avenue NE regarding three subjects who were physically fighting.
The initial officers to arrive on scene found 24 year old Jon Michael Johnson of Lyons completely naked and laying on the roadway. The officers attempted to talk with Johnson who was ranting incoherently and flailing his arms about. The officers told Johnson he was under arrest at which time Johnson violently resisted the officers. The officers deployed pepper spray which had no effect. The officers deployed a Taser which had no effect. The officers finally attempted to subdue Johnson by striking his legs with a police baton which again had no effect. Eventually enough officers arrived on scene to take Johnson to the ground and into custody. Johnson continued to violently resist. Johnson was provided a sedative by Paramedics who were on scene to subdue him.
At the same time neighbors advised a second completely naked male was hiding in their backyard. Officers responded to 374 Illinois Court NE and located 22 year old Salem resident Brandon Lynn Gile in the backyard. Gile initially followed the officers commands before begin to rant and walk away from the officers. A Taser was deployed which had very little effect on Gile. Gile physically resisted and at one point reached towards an officer's duty belt and sidearm. Fortunately enough officers were on scene to physically knock Gile to the ground where he was taken into custody.
Officers then learned there was a third naked male involved in the incident. Neighbors reported the third male had gone into 445 Oregon Avenue NE and barricaded himself in a room. Officers responded to the location and were able to talk to the male and eventually have him exit the house where he was taken into custody without incident. The third male is identified as 22 year old Lyons resident John Cory Morrison.
A subsequent investigation revealed the three males consumed what they described as "10 hits of LSD". LSD is an acronym for Lysergic Acid Diethylamide which is a psychedelic drug commonly associated with impaired thought processes and reported spiritual experiences. LSD is a schedule I controlled substance in the State of Oregon. Possession of LSD is a class B Felony.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident with the exception of Johnson who suffered some bruising as a result of the baton strikes. The three males were transported to Salem Hospital for treatment relating to the consumed drugs. Ultimately, the three listed males will be charged with the following crimes:
Gile: Disorderly Conduct II
Criminal Mischief II
Interfering with a Police Officer
Criminal Trespass I
Resisting Arrest
Johnson: Disorderly Conduct II
Resisting Arrest
Public Indecency
Morrison: Disorderly Conduct II
No further information is available at this time and all three individuals are still in the Hospital at the time of this release.
