This afternoon, Judge Joseph Guimond issued his response to the June 29th decision by the Oregon State Supreme Court to allow a petition of Alternative Writ of Mandamus in the case of convicted murderer Gary Haugen.

Judge Guimond has asked the District Attorney's Office to prepare an Order Vacating the Death Warrant for Mr. Haugen; effectively canceling the scheduled execution date of August 16th, 2011.
Copies of his letters to the involved attorneys and the Supreme Court are attached to this release.
Judge Guimond has scheduled a status conference for Thursday, July 14th, 2011, at 9:00am in his courtroom (Room #1440 - first floor) at the Marion County Courthouse, 100 High Street SE, Salem.
The conference will be open to the public and the media. The spectator seating is limited and will be assigned by deputies prior to the hearing. Some seating will be reserved for media on a first-come basis.
The attached public access order issued by the court on May 12, 2011 remains in effect:

No Cameras or cell phones will be allowed in the courtroom
No recording devices will be allowed in the courtroom
No Tweeting or texting will be allowed from the courtroom
No coming and going from the court once session begins
KATU 2 will connect an audio/video feed to the court's recording system. That feed will be shared with all media requesting access. The feed cable will be run out of the court to the south side of the building. Contact Gino Corridori (503.341.5553) for additional information.
There will be no broadcasts or live transmissions from that audio/video feed during the hearing
