Detectives from the Marion County Sheriff's Office are currently assisting the Mt. Angel Police Department with the investigation of a shooting that occurred earlier today.
At 12:40pm, Mt. Angel Officers received a call of shots being fired in the 800 block of North Spruce Street, in Mt. Angel.
Responding Officers found a male adult deceased in a vehicle. A person of interest has been detained and is being questioned. There is no danger or immediate threat to the residents of the area. There is a domestic relationship between the person of interest and the victim.
A witness, who was driving the vehicle occupied by the victim, is being questioned by investigators. He was not injured in the shooting.
The Medical Examiner and District Attorney's Office have representatives at the scene.
Local law enforcement agencies have sent officers and detectives to assist in this investigation.
No information on the deceased will be released until family notifications are made. The identity of the person being detained will be withheld until his role in this incident can be clarified and confirmed.
This investigation is on-going. Additional information will be made available when possible.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office will handle all PIO inquiries for this incident.
